The FATI Excellence Awards recognise outstanding contributions to trade, investment, governance, women's leadership, youth leadership and the success of the Expo. Nominations open ahead of the Expo, and an independent adjudication panel drawn from business, finance, government, academia and civil society reviews submissions against clear criteria: measurable impact, innovation, inclusion, integrity and contribution to African integration.

Each category can be presented by a sponsor, who presents the trophy on stage and is featured in the awards film, programme and media release. A headline Gala and Awards Sponsor receives naming of the evening, a welcome address and premium table placement.
